2025 Hermana Anti-Trafficking Art Show

Royal Priesthood

Fabric, Acrylic Paint, Buttons, Beads, and String

41” x 52”

This piece combines inspiration from one of the Reintegra women, who shared the difficulty she faced to dream again but now has dreams to travel and become a nurse to help others, with the Biblical values of the dignity and inherent worth of every person. Beyond that, in 1 Peter 2 the people of God are called a "royal priesthood", describing the hope and restoration available to everyone: priests with access to God and royalty with God-given authority to declare his praise, partner with him, and do good. So this piece combines a myriad of elements that represent hopes, dreams, and spiritual royalty.

The style of this work was largely inspired by the work of Pacita Abad, an internationally renowned Filipino artist, and Doris Hoover, a local Bay Area textile artist. Find your inspiration. Follow your curiosity.

This show in partnership with Transform Arts and Reintegra, an anti-trafficking organization working in Latin America. Transform and Reintegra hosted 4 weeks of workshops for the participating artists on art and advocacy and art and trauma and to give us the opportunity to hear from some of the women in recovery in Reintegra program.
